What Isabelle’s Journey Can Teach Us About Lasting Change
When Isabelle first came to see me, she was at a breaking point. For most of her life, she had struggled with her weight, trying diet after diet and program after program, never finding anything that felt sustainable.
Each failed attempt left her more frustrated and discouraged. Standing in front of the mirror, she didn’t just see extra pounds; she saw someone who felt defeated, disappointed, and deeply uncomfortable in her own skin.
She told me she didn’t only want to lose weight; she wanted to feel healthy, strong, and confident. Isabelle wanted to wake up in the morning without dreading what she saw in the mirror, and without feeling like her body was a burden. She wanted to believe she could change, but she wasn’t sure how to make that happen.
Taking Control and Building a Plan
Last September, Isabelle decided enough was enough. On her own, she began making small changes, trying to eat a little cleaner, move more, and pay closer attention to her habits. By January, she realized she needed more support and a plan that would focus on realistic, healthy progress rather than quick fixes.
Her transformation wasn’t instant, and it wasn’t smooth. Isabelle faced plenty of challenges along the way. There were days she skipped workouts, days she ate things she regretted, and days she wondered if any of this effort was really worth it. But she kept coming back. Every time she fell down, she stood back up, and that consistency, even without perfection, became her greatest strength.
Seeing Results Inside and Out
Over time, the changes began to add up. Pounds came off gradually, her energy improved, and she started to see muscle definition where she hadn’t before. Clothes fit differently, and she carried herself with more confidence. Isabelle went from just under 200 pounds in September to 155 pounds today, but what changed even more was how she saw herself.
Where she once saw weakness, she now sees strength. Where she once felt ashamed of her body, she now respects it for what it can do. Movement no longer feels like punishment, and eating well is no longer a chore. Isabelle describes it best:
“I still have goals to reach, and I know this journey isn’t over, but when I look back at how far I’ve come, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude and pride. I used to hate my body. Now, I respect it. I used to feel weak. Now, I know I’m strong. It’s hard not to hate your body sometimes, especially when you're used to seeing it as something you constantly want to change. But one of the most powerful shifts I’ve experienced is learning to take care of my body, not punish it."
A Mindset Shift That Lasts
Her mindset transformed alongside her body. She stopped thinking of health as something temporary or restrictive, and began to see it as an empowering part of her life. That shift, more than the number on the scale, is what makes Isabelle’s story so powerful. Isabelle said to me:
“One thing I’ve come to understand is that the ability to move my body, nourish it with good food, and make time for growth — is a privilege. Not everyone has access to these opportunities, and I no longer take that for granted. What once felt like a chore or punishment has become something I’m truly grateful for. Taking care of myself isn’t a burden — it’s a gift, and I’m learning to treat it that way every single day.”
What Isabelle Can Teach All of Us
Isabelle’s journey is proof that change doesn’t happen overnight, and it doesn’t happen perfectly, but it does happen when you decide to keep showing up for yourself, again and again, no matter how messy it feels.
If you’ve been wondering whether you can do the same, let Isabelle’s story remind you:
You are worth the effort.
You are capable of change.
And you never have to do it alone.
Isabelle ran her very first 5k marathon this year!
“Working out regularly and eating clean has not only changed my body but also transformed my mind. I feel 10 times better, inside and out. I’m more confident. I feel stronger. I feel proud.”
